A Volkswagen está trabalhando em novas soluções sustentáveis. E uma delas foi apresentada recentemente no Salão Internacional do Transporte Rodoviário de Cargas, em São Paulo. É o Constellation 26.280, um caminhão movido a biometano.
O modelo tem uma maior capacidade de armazenamento, motorização mais potente e potencial para redução de 90% das emissões de dióxido de carbono equivalente (CO2 e), uma medida internacionalmente padronizada utilizada para representar os demais gases com efeito de estufa em forma de dióxido de carbono (CO2 ).
Novo modelo da VW pode percorrer longas distâncias sem reabastecer O veículo é equipado com tanques de aço carbono que somam 240 metros cúbicos (o equivalente a 960 litros) de capacidade de armazenamento, a maior do seu segmento. Segundo a VW, isso permite a cobertura de longas distâncias sem a necessidade de reabastecimento. A autonomia do caminhão é de até 300 quilômetros.
Outro diferencial é o uso do biometano, reduzindo em até 90% as emissões de CO2 e. Em uma operação rotineira (quando o veículo percorre de 50 mil a 70 mil quilômetros ao ano), a diminuição é de 150 toneladas de CO2 e emitidas anualmente.

A Volkswagen ainda destaca que a economia com combustível gerada pela produção própria de biometano possibilita um custo operacional baixo. Esse modelo traz transmissão totalmente automática e motor ciclo Otto de 280 cv de potência e 1.100 Nm de torque, similares à versão diesel.
Combinadas, as configurações oferecem ao condutor maior capacidade de arranque, aceleração mais rápida, melhor tração e direção mais confortável e controlada. O motor ainda traz redução significativa nos níveis de ruído.

O Constellation 26.280 também conta com freio retarder, sistema inteligente que garante ainda mais segurança, controle e eficiência às operações, possibilitando a otimização do custo total de operação e aumento significativo da vida útil dos componentes.
Além disso, o veículo é equipado com controle de estabilidade e assistente automático de partida em rampa, itens que proporcionam ainda mais confiabilidade às operações.
A VW observa que o projeto estreia novo sistema de direção, suspensões modulares e eixos.
Os primeiros testes em operação real do veículo serão realizados a partir de 2025.
Não foi informada uma data para o início das vendas do novo modelo.
