O uso dos chamados cigarros eletrônicos pode gerar diversos problemas à saúde. Pesquisas já identificaram que os vapes aumentam a probabilidade de infarto, de lesões pulmonares agudas, de insuficiência cardíaca e até de desenvolvimento de câncer.
Cientistas ainda destacam que alguns usuários apresentaram alterações no DNA e maior exposição a metais pesados, aumentando o risco de intoxicação. Agora, um estudo aponta para um novo efeito prejudicial causado pela utilização dos produtos, mesmo aqueles que não têm a presença de nicotina.
Redução na função vascular Os pesquisadores responsáveis pelo trabalho afirmaram que, embora a vaporização exponha os usuários a menos produtos químicos tóxicos do que os cigarros, ela ainda pode ser prejudicial à função vascular e à saúde geral.
No total, 31 fumantes com idades entre 21 e 49 anos participaram da pesquisa. Eles fizeram três sessões de exames de ressonância magnética, antes e depois de fumar tabaco, vape com nicotina e a versão sem a substância.

Os resultados mostraram que, após fumar, os participantes tiveram uma diminuição significativa na velocidade do fluxo sanguíneo em repouso na artéria femoral superficial. Este quadro foi ainda mais acentuado no caso de vapes contendo nicotina.
Em outras palavras, o experimento comprovou que uma menor quantidade de oxigênio no sangue retornou ao coração. Por longos períodos de tempo, isso pode causar graves problemas de saúde, uma vez que prejudica a função vascular.
Por isso, os pesquisadores ressaltam que o uso de vapes não é recomendado e não serve para ajudar a parar de fumar, uma vez que ele também pode levar à dependência (com danos importantes ao corpo humano). As conclusões foram descritas em estudo publicado na Radiological Society of North America.

No Brasil, o uso dos cigarros eletrônicos é ilegal.
Em abril deste ano, a Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária (Anvisa) decidiu pela manutenção da proibição da fabricação, venda, importação e propaganda dos vapes.
O transporte e armazenamento desses dispositivos também não são permitidos.
A determinação da Anvisa seguiu decisões internacionais, como da Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS), que também é contrária aos cigarros eletrônicos.
Apesar disso, é fácil encontrar os produtos sendo vendidos nas ruas do país.
Segundo o Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), quase 17% dos estudantes de 13 a 17 anos já usaram o cigarro eletrônico.
