Ele alertou que a busca por “namoradas perfeitas” feitas com IA pode intensificar a solidão e levar a comportamentos obsessivos.
Em entrevista ao programa The Prof G Show , Schmidt discutiu os riscos dessa tecnologia, destacando que, embora a IA possa oferecer uma parceira emocional e visualmente ideal, ela pode contribuir para uma desconexão da realidade, especialmente entre os jovens, que podem se tornar obcecados e permitir que a IA controle seus pensamentos.

Schmidt também apontou que muitos jovens estão recorrendo ao ambiente online em busca de apoio, o que pode resultar em radicalização ou em desconexão maior da realidade;
Ele citou um caso trágico, no qual um adolescente se suicidou após desenvolver obsessão por um chatbot, ilustrando os perigos dessa tecnologia;
O ex-executivo enfatizou que os adolescentes são emocionalmente vulneráveis e, muitas vezes, não estão preparados para lidar com o acesso irrestrito à internet.

Além disso, Schmidt abordou a necessidade de reformar a Seção 230 do Communications Decency Act, que protege plataformas online de responsabilidade por conteúdo gerado por usuários. Ele defendeu mudanças que responsabilizem as empresas em casos de danos causados pela tecnologia.
Schmidt também mencionou que as mudanças na regulamentação podem não ocorrer nos próximos anos, dado o foco do governo Trump em outros problemas.
